Equine Wellness Program
The Equine Wellness Program is designed to give you peace of mind, knowing your horse has the best preventative healthcare routine, at an affordable price. It eliminates the guesswork out of keeping up with your horse’s vaccinations, deworming and dental care. Three levels are available depending on your lifestyle and your horse’s needs:
Level one provides basic care and core vaccinations. It is designed with the “backyard horse” in mind. If your horse is retired, just a pet or you don’t trailer out to ride, this is the good choice. (See Details and Pricing)
Level two provides additional vaccinations, deworming and an EIA (Coggins) test. It is designed with the “weekend warrior” or pleasure horse in mind. If you trailer out to ride but don’t come in contact with a lot of other horses, this is a good choice. (See Details and Pricing)
Level three provides the most coverage, with the addition of the rhino/flu vaccination. It is designed with the active riding, show or breeding horse in mind. It is a good choice for the horse that spends time away from home in other barns or is contact with outside horses. (See Details and Pricing)
How it works
You will be contacted by Rutherford Large Animal, 10-14 days in advance to schedule a convenient appointment for you. At your appointment, Dr. Butterworth-Tice will examine your horse, collect a sample for fecal float analysis, administer vaccinations and blood tests and discuss feeding and nutrition. An individual deworming protocol will be designed for your horse. Once a year she will also provide a thorough dental exam and float your horse’s teeth.
Payments and refunds
Payment is expected before or at the time of your first appointment. Installments can be arranged in advance, please call 828-447-9600 to discuss your options. Owners with three or more horses enrolled receive an additional 5% discount. For your convenience we accept checks, cash, and the following credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. We also provide Care Credit.

Refunds are provided in the form of a pro-rated account credit. Refunds are provided in the instances of the sale or death of the horse. The program can be transferred to the new owner of the horse, if they are in the practice area.
